BUTTERNUT BISCUITS - Biscuits (cookies) with butter and coconut

This recipe is from our local school's collection of ``mother's favourite recipes''. It's terrific.

INGREDIENTS (6 dozen)

30 g (2 Tbsp)
butter,
200 g (1 cup)
sugar
(1)
egg
2.5 ml (½ tsp)
cream of tartar
5 ml (1 tsp)
baking soda
(pinch)
salt
160 g (1½ cups)
plain white flour
2.5 ml (½ tsp)
vanilla essence
75 g (1 cup)
dessicated coconut
30 ml (2 Tbsp)
golden syrup
15 ml (1 Tbsp)
milk

PROCEDURE

Mix all ingredients together well. Preheat oven to 120°C .

Roll dough into small balls.

Bake for 15 minutes, or until brown.

NOTES

Golden syrup is not available in North America; it is a caramelized sugar syrup. North Americans can substitute dark corn syrup or a mixture of molasses and water.
