Subject: Son of Alpine Netride
Dear Sydriders,
I am planning a jaunt down to the snowy mountains on the weekend of
April 25 - 26. It's not a long weekend and I am told that double demerit
points finished at the end of Easter although it is the last week of NSW
school holidays. However this shouldn't worry us too much as most of the
route will be on back roads with the exception of the commute down on
the first night.
General Information
This ride is suitable for medium to large capacity bikes with riders who
don't mind doing up to 600k's per day over some of the best motorcycling
roads in NSW. Anyone is welcome to come provided you and your bike (and/or
pillion) are up to traveling moderately long distances at
moderately high speeds. The aim of the trip is to have fun and enjoy the
company of fellow motorcyclists.
The trip will be run in much the same way as the Oxley Highway and
Alpine Netrides (for those of you who have experienced them or read the
reports.)
You will need to make sure that you have plenty of life left on your
tyres these, roads are notorious for wearing out tyres really quickly
<grin> as some of the Alpine Netriders will attest and tyre replacement
en route is not possible. Finally be prepared to have heaps of fun.
I have pre booked accommodation for a limited number. If the group
bigger I'll try to get more but can't guarantee a place.
The Route
- Friday April 24
- Meet near Liverpool at around 5:30PM for the commute down the Hume
Highway to Gundagai and turn off to Tumut. (We can arrange other pickup
points if necessary or just meet in Tumut.) Stay overnight at the Royal
Hotel in Tumut
- Saturday April 25
- Tumut - Adaminaby - Middlingbank - Berridale - Dalgety - Jyndabine -
Threadbo - Kanchoben - Tintildra.
Stay overnight at the Tintildra Pub.
- Sunday April 26
- Tintildra - via Elliot Way to Cabramurra - Kiandra - Tumut - Gundagai -
Jugiong - Harden - Boorowa - Woodstock - Tarana - Ligthow - Bell -
Sydney.
What to do next
If you are able to come please email me. As time is short please only
reply if you are a definite starter. I'll confirm to the those who reply
with further details. Please also note that I'll be away from the PC
until Saturday.
Cheers
Robert Swinton
