In New Zealand we have a graduated licence system it goes like this..... You must sit a theory test (25 Questions) to pass you must get 23 correct, and not more than 1 wrong in the last 6 questions. You must get 4/5 oral questions correct as well. This is half way to getting a learner permit. The next stage is the basic skills course last about 3 hours. You now have a learner licence. You have a learner licence for 6 months and are subjected to the following restrictions. You must always carry it Zero alcohol before riding 250cc limit Never carry a pillion No night riding (10pm-5am) Must display an "L"plate Must not exceed 70km/h After 6 Months you can apply to take your practical (on Road ) test. The testing officer is a police officer who follows you on the road. Pass the test you now get a restricted licence you have this licence for 18months and are subjected to the following restrictions. You must always carry it Zero alcohol before riding 250cc limit No pillion except in a side car No night riding (10pm-5am) Must display an "L"plate Afetr 18 months you can apply for a full licence...no further testing of you ability to ride is required ( infact you dont even have to ride from the day you pass you test just apply 18months later) You can reduce the restricetd time by half if you do a Defensive Driving Course or complete an Advanced Riding course at a Motorcycle school (Advanced in this definition is whatever the motorcycle school considers is advanced, ie Beyond a learner Stage). The age of licensure in New Zealand is _15_years
